RPM Challenge Complete!

Hello everyone!

This year's RPM challenge is officially complete, and I was able to finish and submit on time. The result is a 7 song EP called "Words of Winter" and I'm pretty happy with what I was able to accomplish in just one month (the shortest month of the year too! I would have been thrilled with an extra 2 or 3 days).

I'm feeling very accomplished and also very, very tired. I'm experiencing a weird mixture of feeling free and also feeling a little lost. This challenge took up a lot of my time this month, many hours out of every day, and for that to suddenly not be a thing I have to think about feels very strange.

I was just reviewing the intentions that I set at the start of this challenge, and I have to say I did pretty well with sticking to them! I finished it, which was the most important one, and the most challenging for a detail-obsessed perfectionist like me. I did a pretty good job of taking care of myself. The working out especially was a staple for me. Sometimes though I was bad about staying up later than I should have, especially towards the end of the challenge.

To say that I completely embraced my limitations (in terms of skill, gear, and time) would be a stretch, but I was at least able to accept them. I did indeed hone my writing, recording, and mixing chops, even if only a little. This experience has certainly made clear to me where my weaknesses lie in all three categories, which will make it easier for me to redesign my practice routine to improve my weak spots.

Speaking of which, I was able to maintain a practice routine throughout, though it did change and evolve as the month went on and I got closer to the deadline. I wanted to remain flexible, which I did, and it made all the difference in being able to see this project through to the end.

All in all, this was a great experience! I'm excited to move on to other things and then come back after a while to fine tune the EP so I can give it an official release later this year or early next year.
