Welcome!

You're likely here because you are a musician who feels pulled to take your music more seriously. Whether you want to improve your skills and understanding, develop your unique voice, or learn how to better enjoy your overall experience with making music, signing up for lessons can be a helpful step in getting you where you want to go.

About Lessons

Lessons are open to guitarists, vocalists, and songwriters of all skill levels—though having at least some musical experience is recommended.
These lessons will work best for you if you are serious about music and are also ready to put in the time and effort required to improve. When it comes to lessons—and music in general—you get out what you put into it.
Lessons will focus on giving you the tools you need to build a solid musical foundation, and on helping you find and develop your unique voice.

All lesson material is personalized—created specifically for you based on your interests, experience, strengths, and challenges.

Coaching

In addition to what we work on musically, I also incorporate coaching as part of these lessons in order to help you put into practice everything we work on together during our sessions.
The true value you gain from taking music lessons comes from the work you do on your own—practicing, studying, listening, and writing. I’ve realized over many years of teaching that the areas where my students struggle the most are actually related to challenges beyond the music material itself—like not having enough time to practice regularly, becoming easily discouraged or overwhelmed, and struggling to focus, just to name a few. The coaching portion of lessons is designed to address these types of issues so you can put more time, energy, and attention into your music.
Using my unique four-part process, you will learn how to:
-
Build a solid foundation to support your musical journey
-
Get clear about what you want out of music
-
Schedule regular music time, prepare to practice, and organize your material
-
Work on music in a way that is enjoyable and helps you improve faster
Coaching will not only help you get better results from our lessons, but will also improve your relationship with music so your journey is both satisfying and sustainable.

This meeting will give us a chance to get to know one another and to see if lessons are a good fit for you. I’ll go into more depth about what to expect from lessons, and you are welcome to ask any questions you may have.

I work with a limited number of students at any given time, and am therefore selective about who I will work with. I want lessons to be mutually beneficial: for you to get exactly what you need for where you are on your musical journey, and for me to work with students I resonate with and am excited to teach.

In general, I am interested in working with musicians who are:

-
Open-minded and curious
-
Interested in doing the work and want to be challenged
-
Teachable/coachable
-
Willing to take full ownership of their musical progress and experience
-
Not afraid to try new things and to make mistakes along the way

If this sounds like you, and you’re interested in lessons, then I look forward to meeting you!
